It all started in September 1991, when the Chapter Director "Jeff", decided to create a H.O.G. Chapter in France, after a few trips to the USA.  To do this, he contacted Christian Rougeron, first Director of H.O.G Europe, through "Moto Rider", the old Harley dealer in Nice.  After several meetings things started moving.…

As for all well-organized clubs, it is necessary to first elect the Chapter Officers (the vital center of a club).  To do this, Jeff contacted some bikers in the region who were affiliated to the H.O.G. USA, who shared the same passion, had the same ideas on the way a Chapter in France should be and how to make it work.  Once the officers were chosen, you must find the members; many of which will come through dealer and others from "word of mouth."

The problem now consists of choosing the members who really want to be a part of the group.

It is necessary to explain to them exactly what the Chapter seeks to achieve, its main goal, that it is a family oriented organization, open to all
Harley-Davidson owners who desire to be a part of the only official club recognized by the company Harley-Davidson.

Once the group was created, with 28 members, the next step was to take care of the relations with Germany and most notably, Christian Rougeron, who officially recognized the Chapter.  That took place in June 1992, the date when the Sun South Coast Nice Chapter was made official by Harley- Davidson France and given the number 9179. During this time, the members of the Chapter didn't just sit around doing nothing ; on the contrary,

they represented the H.O.G. at many different events, most notably, at events helping handicapped children in the region of Nice, as well as most of the rallies in France. They were also present at the H.O.G. Rally in Oregon, USA, as well as in Alsace where they could speak directly with Mr. Rougeron concerning the Chapters in France, as we had already had a brief visit with him at La Londe les Maures.

We must not forget that the true vocation of a Chapter doesn't consist of just wearing patches on a jackets but it is there to bring together people who have a different idea of what a bikers' club can be (with all respect to them) and those who have the passion to ride together for the pleasure of officially representing a company as prestigious as Harley-Davidson, as well as organize events an a machine which symbolizes FREEDOM
